Role description

QuantumBasel's research and business applications revolutionize the way quantum and AI technologies can transform industries, leveraging simple and fast access to the world's best quantum computers, both on-premise and via the cloud. QuantumBasel’s focus is on logistics, healthcare and life sciences, energy, manufacturing, and financial services.

As an AI / DevOps Intern at QuantumBasel, you will be working closely with our data science, platform, and quantum teams. You will be (hands-on) exploring different applications of AI at the intersection of quantum computing and machine learning. Your role will focus on supporting tasks of operating machine learning applications. This includes but is not limited to tasks such as writing ML code, applying ML tools, and managing container-based services.

Duration: 4-12 months, 50-100 %
Start date: Flexible
Work location: Arlesheim & remote

Tasks
  • Develop supervised and unsupervised ML models, including large language models
  • Integrate machine learning algorithms into software services
    Analyze data sources for AI applications and supporting proof-of-concept AI demos
  • Assist in the design, development, and optimization of machine learning
    Implement tools and pipelines to improve the user experience
  • Contribute to the integration of machine learning capabilities into QuantumBasel products and services
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and quantum technologies
  • Document and present research findings, project updates, and technical reports
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or a quantitative STEM-related field
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a passion for tackling complex challenges
  • Motivated, able to work independently and reliably
  • Strong communication skills to effectively articulate technical concepts
  • Passionate about emerging technologies
  • Proficiency in writing Python code
  • First experiences with cloud platforms and containerization technologies, especially knowledge of embedding machine learning algorithms into software services (preferably with Python and FastAPI) as well as API service implementation
  • Familiarity with popular machine and deep learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, Pytorch Lightning) and libraries
  • Basic understanding of data pipelines and tools (e.g. Mlflow, Airflow, DVC)
  • First experiences in agile software development and modern software development requirements in general
  • Fluency in English; fluency in German is a plus
  • Requirement: Holding a Swiss/EU passport, a valid EU/EFTA work permit, or a valid Swiss residence permit (C permit)

Role description

QuantumBasel’s practical applications revolutionize the way Quantum
and AI technologies are poised to transform industries.

We are looking for a Business Intern, start date to be defined.

As a Business Intern at QuantumBasel, you will be supporting the CEO and the Lead Operations and if needed the rest of the team. You will help with various organizational tasks. You will also be helping to organize different workshops and events. Furthermore, you will support the team with general administrative tasks such as expense bills, invoices and other organisational tasks.

You will work alongside a highly motivated team and learn a lot about a new emerging technology at the forefront of innovation. Also you can participate in various events.

Duration: ideally 12 months, 60-100 %
Work location: Arlesheim

Preferred Qualifications
  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree (business administration, business informatics, economics, STEM) at a Swiss university or university of applied sciences or just completed a commercial degree
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Motivated, able to work independently and reliably
  • Fluent in English and German
  • MUST: Holding a Swiss passport or a valid EU/EFTA work permit.
