An international competence center for Industry 4.0 is being developed on the historic Schorenareal site in Arlesheim near Basel. uptownBasel is privately financed by Monique and Thomas Staehelin. It is very important to the investors that uptownBasel strengthens the local value chain. Based on the idea of investing in future generations, it is a beacon project for sustainability and resource efficiency.
By the end of this decade, uptownBasel will offer selected technology companies, start-ups and other organizations 70,000 square meters of space and a tailor-made infrastructure to develop and promote their innovations in a perfect environment. The focus will be on industrial production, healthcare and logistics, as well as the cross-cutting function of digitalization.
As a platform for networked companies, uptownBasel promotes cross-industry and cross-disciplinary knowledge transfer and thus the realization of latent ideas - in the areas of the Internet of Things, robotics, artificial intelligence, future mobility and agile working.
