Seigo Tarucha

Prof. Seigo, Tarucha received his BS degree from The University of Tokyo, and his MS and PhD degrees from The University of Tokyo in 1976, 1978 and 1986, respectively, all in Applied Physics. He joined NTT Basic Research Laboratories in 1978, moved to the University of Tokyo as a professor in the Department of Physics in 1998, and moved to the Department of Applied Physics in 2004.

His current interest has been in the area of quantum transport and correlation effects in semiconductor nanostructures and physics and technology of spin-based quantum computing with quantum dots. He has authored over 240 papers in leading technical journals and conferences.

He has been awarded to IBM Japan Science Award (1998), The Quantum Device Award (2000), Ryogo Kubo Award (2000), Nishina Memorial Prize (2002), National Medal with Purple Ribbon (2005), and Leo Esaki Award (2007).

He is an editor of Semiconductor Science and Technology in IOP, and has been a member of The Physical Society of Japan and The Japan Society of Applied Physics.
